New and Pertinent Things

This is where I post new things I’ve been up to recently, for more examples of my work please browse through the portfolio posts above, and check out my blog posts in the feed to the right.

I recently completed a personal sketchbook (read playground slash dumping ground) that I’d been working on in between things since 2012, so I made a video of it which is here. I make no apologies for the clown music.

The 3.52 billion project (#3point52billion) is live and I have posted lots of cookie cutter busting lady drawings on Instagram, go there if you want to see them all more are being posted as I continue the project although no longer daily because other work has got in the way, here are a few to give you an idea of the style.

Jenny Robins - 3.52 billion - four 2This all started with the feminist poster I did for One Beat Zines, currently available as part of a bundle of my zines from their shop. It combines a lot of my favourite things and ways of working, here it is in all its glory:

Individualised, I suppose you have to say “bespoke” name illustrations are the newest thing I’ve been specialising in – using favourite colours, toys, hobbies or interests to create a one off piece – they are available for commission through Little Carousel Gallery.

The second was a lovely adventure to Sheffield where I hand painted all the signage for the new Teatime Vintage shop and tea room.

For a long time I’ve been making found text collage work, and doing hand drawn lettering, but recently I’ve been combining the two styles in an unprecedentedly laborious new style which is really enjoyable. I made this piece about drawing, and now unique, inspirational drawing sketchbooks with this design are now available.

Hand lettered baby grows also now available with the message of your choice (although I have some witty suggestions).

I went to Belgium in October to buy chocolate, I mean attend the awards ceremony for the Animate Europe Fast Forward book, which was awesome. It was great to meet other creators and enthusiasts from around the EU. You can see the whole book including my comic here. Mine is the least political comic. And the most detailed.

Here is a photograph of me with my commendation and comic, looking very alert, and quite a lot like this drawing of myself I did for the book. This is probably my favourite self portrait I’ve done in 8 years, so I expect I’ll be using it more.

My found text poetry comic was featured in Over The Line, a really cool introduction to the topic, you can see me at Thorpe park in this section. I wrote about the comic, and some stuff about creativity and poetry and collaboration here.
